Gaming tomorrow: update
If anyone decided not to come over for gaming tomorrow because the games I listed sounded too geeky: I just bought Apples to Apples and Save Doctor Lucky, which might have broader appeal.

7:00, post if you need directions. Oh, and I forgot to mention in the last post: RSVP, so I'll know how many to expect.

See you tomorrow!

Gaming Monday
Hey, guess what I forgot to post half a week ago.

Next Monday is boardgaming night at my place (email or leave a comment if you need directions), starting at 7:00. I'm thinking either Betrayal at House on the Hill or Mystery of the Abbey, depending on if we're in the mood for something light and random, or more of a brain buster.

So which would you all prefer?

Looks like I'll be going to beer fest at 5:00 today. If anyone wants to join me, give me a call. Hmm, I guess I'll make a friends-locked entry with my phone number. Wow - first use of friends-lock!

So who wants to help me move?
Unfortunately, I couldn't completely avoid Moving Day this year - my new lease starts on July 1. But I've got a few days leeway either way, since the person I'm taking over from is leaving early and my landlord doesn't mind me leaving my stuff at my old place. So right now, the plan is to rent a truck and move on Sunday, July 2. I think I should still call and reserve a truck early, even if it's not right on the 1st, so I want to do that this week.

Problem is, I no longer have a driver's license. So - can somebody volunteer to drive the U-Haul for me? You will be paid in beer (after all the driving's done, of course!) And does anyone else want to help move my furniture?

So, who's seeing X-Men on Friday? (Or Saturday, but I prefer Friday.)

Who's going to Beer Fest next week, and when?

Scrabble!
It's that time again! Sunday, at Divan Orange at 3:00, is the first Scrabble game of 2006, hosted by [info]feygele and [info]vierge_en_trop owners of the two best asses in town! I will be there, and you should be too.

Vampire Circus!
Just a friendly reminder that [info]vierge_en_trop, [info]gorbash_dragon, [info]feygele and I are going to see Vampire Circus at 9:45 on Halloween night, at the Cinéma du Parc. (That's this Monday, you slackers.) Spooooky vampires! Come join us!

Since you can't buy tickets in advance at Parc, be sure to show up early in case it sells out (9:15 or 9:30 should do it). [info]vierge_en_trop and I will already be there, so we'll meet you inside. Vampires! And clowns! Scary!

(EDIT: holy crap, Lalla Ward's in it! I admit, I was just using exclamation points to drum up interest before, but now I'm actually excited!)

Want a kitten?
A friend of mine is trying to find an owner for a kitten that's been hanging around his house - it's parents seem to be ignoring it. It'll need its shots, and probably to adapt to a household environment. He can't take it in cause he's moving away soon, but I guess he can take it to a shelter if he doesn't find someone before he leaves.

He says it's a "cute grey one". Blarg, I want a kitten. I guess I'll have to settle for that black thing that eats feet.

Gaming night... uh, day
Since Thursday didn't happen, I'm going to the monthly Board Games Meetup at Concordia tomorrow, at 1:00. (Hall building, second floor mezzanine - take the escalator up and turn right.)

Anyone who's in the mood for gaming this weekend (psst, [info]iangurudata!) should probably come join us.

No game night
I just remembered I have a test on Friday and I have to study. Plus I've got some other stuff to get done that I want to get finished off tomorrow. So, no game night after all.

What's going on Friday? Anything?

Gaming Thursday
Ok, I'd like to play more board games on Thursday. (Want to make this a semi-regular thing.) But I'm still looking for a place where people can drop in without having to RSVP. I didn't really like where we were last time - too big and empty, it felt lonely. My own house is too small, and I don't really feel comfortable scheduling my gaming night at somebody else's house and then inviting anybody who wants to come to drop in.

I was thinking that a good place would be Cafe L'Utopik, where we have the Scrabble meetups on the weekends. Last weekend there were a big group of chess players, our Scrabble crowd, and a couple of people playing Magic: The Gathering, so they're definitely used to having gamers in there, and it's pretty comfortable and has nice decor. The only thing is that I've only been there on the weekend during the day, so I'm not sure what it's like in the evening (although I imagine it's still pretty quiet).

So this week, I was thinking of getting a couple of people who RSVP to meet there, so that if it turns out to be too busy to play there we can head out somewhere else together. (Other people are still welcome to show up, since chances are I'm being paranoid, just I can't guarantee it'll work out unless you RSVP.) If it works out, we can start meeting there every week.

The stars are nearly right...
I just bought Arkham Horror. No, I can't really afford it, but what can I say? The spell of the eastern sea was upon me.

I was going back and forth on whether to have another gaming night this week, or make it every two weeks, but hey - new game! No question now - gotta play again! Thursday again works for me: haven't figured out where yet, but mark it on your calendar. I'll post again later in the week, but if I forget, you'll be reminded of the coming of Games Night by various dreams and phantasms sent in the nethermost depths of night, which will be perceivable only by the most sensitive of artistic souls but will fill them with a nameless and dreadful horror. Should be fun!

Gaming night - the plan
Ok, there's an overwhelming preference for Thursday, and more people interested than will fit in here. So gaming night will be next Thursday, at the Second Cup in Central Station (895 RUE DE LA GAUCHETIÈRE OUEST), at 7:00. (Will everybody be done work by then? I may change the time - I'll post again early next week as a reminder.) Everyone welcome! Feel free to bring anything you want to play.

Gaming night
Time to start gaming again! I'm gonna start having board game nights at my place, once every two weeks or so I think. It's unfortunately too small to fit more than about 5 people, so tag this post if you're interested. I think it's too late to have one this week, but next week for sure. I think it's time to play Mystery of the Abbey again.

So, who's interested and what day do you prefer? Tuesday is out for me, but other than that any night is good. I was thinking Wednesday or Thursday. (Ah, crap - it doesn't matter for this week, because she's out of town, but [info]vierge_en_trop requested one of those two nights, but I've forgotten which.)

I keep thinking I should end with something witty to get people more interested in coming, but I can never come up with anything. So imagine a stinger here.

Weekend plans
Tonight I'll be going to Brutopia at 9:00, if the rain lets up, which it looks like it's doing. There's a band called the Cains playing; apparently they're regulars, but I don't think I've actually seen them before. I only noticed cause they had a really impressive pirate poster up last time I was in, and this is something I want to encourage. Come join me!

On Sunday, I'm going to this. Legendary animator Ray Harryhausen will be talking about his career, getting a lifetime achievement award, and then screening a newly restored print of his most famous film - Jason and the Argonauts. 12:00 at Concordia's Hall Theatre. I know there are a lot of geeks reading who would enjoy this.
